Mandatory Marine Insurance
Shipping vehicles by sea carries its own risks. Marine insurance coverage from a licensed insurer is mandatory on every shipment — it is not included in the shipping price and is quoted separately.
Basic Coverage (Standard)
A basic cover option. Only covers the vehicle if it is completely destroyed (ship sinking/fire).
- Ship Sinking / Capsizing
- Major Fire on the Ship
- Minor Scratches & Dents
- Loss of Accessories
Comprehensive Coverage
Marine insurance arranged through Ventura Trans & Services (M) Sdn Bhd in partnership with Tokio Marine Malaysia. Cover includes fire/explosion, sinking/stranding, collision during the voyage, emergency unloading, General Average, Jettison and salvage costs.
- All Total Loss Benefits
- Physical Damage (Dents/Breakage)
- Broken Glass During Transit
- Vehicle Theft
What is NOT Covered?
Even if you take out All-Risk insurance, there are standard exclusions (exclusion clause) in the marine policy:
- Personal Belongings: Any items (clothes, bags, electronics) left in the car are at your own risk. The insurance does not cover the loss of personal belongings.
- Mechanical Damage: Damage to the engine, gearbox or battery that is not caused by an external accident is not covered.
- Pre-existing Defects: Damage (scratches/dents) already recorded in the inspection form (Vehicle Condition Report) before handover.
How the Premium is Calculated
Marine insurance is mandatory on every shipment, but our shipping prices exclude it — the premium is quoted separately.
The premium is based on the vehicle's market value, not the value on your existing motor policy.
Below RM41,000: RM104 flat (premium RM50 + 8% SST RM4 + stamp duty RM10 + service fee RM40).
RM41,000 and above: (market value × 0.00120) + 8% SST + stamp duty RM10 + service fee RM40.
The premium is confirmed together with your shipping quote.
