IMPORTANT NOTICE: Prohibited Items Inside the Car

For maritime safety, the port and customs authorities take the issue of cargo inside vehicles seriously. STRICTLY PROHIBITED to carry flammable items, weapons, drugs, or smuggled goods.

For RoRo use, any personal belongings (clothes, boxes, tools) are at the owner's own risk and marine insurance coverage does NOT cover the loss of such items.

*Only the spare tyre, jack, and basic vehicle tools are officially allowed.

The Complete
Shipping Process

Shipping a car across the sea requires strict procedural compliance. We simplify this process into clear steps for you — from the quote to the car arriving at its destination.

Book Now

Contact our customer service officer via WhatsApp or call. Provide basic details: car model, origin location, and delivery destination. We will give free advice on the best method (RoRo or Container).

You will receive a transparent official quote. No hidden costs. This quotation covers sea freight, port charges and handling fees. Marine insurance is mandatory on every shipment and is quoted separately — the premium is based on the vehicle's Insured Value as stated in its motor insurance policy.

Once you agree on the price, we will open a booking file. Ship slots are very limited, so we recommend booking at least 2 weeks before your desired sailing date.

You need to submit copies of important documents: Owner's IC, Vehicle Registration (VOC) JPJ, and a Bank Authorisation Letter (if the vehicle is still under a loan). Documents can be sent as softcopy first.

For 'Hire Purchase' vehicles, you must obtain a release letter from your bank branch. We can provide a sample letter to ease your dealings at the bank counter.

Send your vehicle to our Yard at Port Klang (Westport/Northport). If you are busy, we provide a 'Door-to-Door' service with an additional charge to collect the car from your home.

Before entering the port area, a 'Joint Inspection' will be carried out. We will photograph the car's exterior condition, rims, mirrors, and accessories for a shared security record.

The car will be placed in a secure storage area (Holding Area) within the port while waiting for the ship to arrive. This area is tightly guarded by the port auxiliary police.

Professional port drivers (Stevedores) will drive your car into the ship's hold (RoRo) and secure the tyres (lashing) to ensure the car does not move during the voyage.

The ship departs from Port Klang heading to Borneo. The journey takes an average of 7 to 14 days depending on sea weather conditions and the ship's port-of-call schedule.

The ship arrives at the port (Kota Kinabalu/Kuching/etc). The car is driven out and placed at the destination yard. This process involves verification of port customs data.

Our agent at the destination will handle the release documents (Release Order). All destination terminal charges are settled by us (if included in the package).

You will be contacted to collect the car. Please bring your original IC and driving licence. Inspect your vehicle before signing the receipt form. Done!

Frequently Asked Questions About Car Shipping

Answers to popular questions about costs, schedules, documents, and the process of shipping a vehicle to Sabah, Sarawak & Peninsular Malaysia.

How much does it cost to ship a car to Sabah from Peninsular Malaysia?

The cost to ship a car to Sabah starts from RM2,195 for a sedan (Port Klang to Kota Kinabalu). Motorcycles from RM1,200, commercial/4x4 pickup vehicles from RM2,440. Prices are port-to-port including basic port charges. Contact us for an exact quote based on your vehicle type.

How much does car shipping to Sarawak cost?

Car shipping to Sarawak (Kuching) starts from RM1,950 for a sedan and RM2,050 for a commercial vehicle. Via Bintulu, prices start from RM2,480 (sedan). The car shipping price to Sarawak includes basic port charges at Port Klang.

What is the difference between 'pos kereta' and 'hantar kereta'?

'Pos kereta' and 'hantar kereta' mean the same thing — they refer to shipping a vehicle by sea from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah or Sarawak (and vice versa). We provide two main methods: RoRo (Roll-on Roll-off), where the car is driven onto the vessel, and Container, where the vehicle is loaded into a 20/40-foot container.

Can you ship a motorcycle to Sabah and Sarawak?

Yes, we accept motorcycle shipments to Sabah and Sarawak. Motorcycle shipping starts from RM1,150 (Port Klang to Kota Kinabalu or Kuching). All types of motorcycles are accepted including superbikes and motorcycles under 250cc. Motorcycles are loaded safely using a special bracket.

What is the sailing schedule for shipping a car to Sabah?

The car sailing schedule to Sabah operates weekly from Port Klang. RoRo vessels usually depart 1-2 times a week to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. The schedule is subject to the shipping line and weather conditions. Contact us for the latest schedule and slot availability.

How many days does car shipping to Sarawak take?

Car shipping to Sarawak takes 5-7 working days from Port Klang to Kuching or Bintulu — including 4-6 days at sea, 1-2 days customs clearance and delivery. The duration depends on the current sailing schedule and sea weather conditions.

How do I ship a car to Sabah from Peninsular Malaysia?

How to ship a car to Sabah: (1) WhatsApp us for a quote, (2) Send the vehicle to our yard at Port Klang, (3) We handle all documents including JPJ and customs, (4) The vehicle is loaded onto a RoRo or container vessel, (5) The vehicle arrives in Kota Kinabalu within 5-7 days. Marine insurance is mandatory and is quoted separately.

Can you ship a car from Sabah or Sarawak to Peninsular Malaysia?

Yes, we provide car shipping from Sabah to Peninsular Malaysia (KK to Port Klang from RM2,490) and from Sarawak to Peninsular Malaysia (Kuching to Port Klang from RM1,945). The process, duration, and insurance coverage are the same as shipping from Peninsular Malaysia to Borneo.

Is RoRo or Container more suitable for shipping a car?

RoRo suits most standard cars — more economical, more frequent schedules, and a faster process. Container is more suitable for luxury or vintage cars, or if you want to pack personal belongings with the vehicle. Container costs more but offers maximum protection.

What documents are required to ship a car to Sabah?

Documents required: (1) A copy of the owner's IC, (2) A copy of the vehicle grant (VOC), (3) A bank release letter if the car is still under a loan, (4) The vehicle keys. We will help arrange the JPJ and customs documents on your behalf.

Can I leave belongings in the car during shipping?

For the RoRo method, the port officially only allows a spare tyre, jack, and basic vehicle tools. Personal belongings may be left but at your own risk and are NOT covered by marine insurance. For the Container method, you can pack personal belongings more safely because the vehicle is locked inside the container.

My car is still under a loan, can it be shipped to Sabah or Sarawak?

Yes, a car still under a loan (hire purchase) can be shipped. You need to obtain a release letter from your bank branch first. We can provide a sample letter to make the process at the bank counter easier.

Where do I hand over the vehicle for shipping?

The vehicle must be handed over at our yard near Port Klang (Westport/Northport), Selangor. If you cannot come, we offer a Door-to-Door service — we collect the car from your home via Jockey Drive or Car Carrier.

Is marine insurance included in the price?

No — our shipping prices exclude marine insurance. However, marine insurance is mandatory on every shipment; no vehicle ships without it. We arrange marine insurance through Ventura Trans & Services (M) Sdn Bhd in partnership with Tokio Marine Malaysia. Cover includes fire/explosion, sinking/stranding, collision during the voyage, emergency unloading, General Average, Jettison and salvage costs, from loading port to discharge port. It does NOT cover personal belongings, aftermarket accessories (turbo, speaker, sub-woofer) or minor scratch/dent damage. Premium: vehicles below RM41,000 market value pay a flat RM104 (premium RM50 + 8% SST RM4 + stamp duty RM10 + service fee RM40). Vehicles RM41,000 and above: market value × 0.00120 + 8% SST + stamp duty RM10 + service fee RM40. The premium is quoted separately with your shipping quote.

What is customs clearance and how long does it take?

Customs clearance is the process of verifying the vehicle's documents at the destination port. It usually takes 1-2 working days after the vessel arrives. Our agents in Sabah and Sarawak will handle all customs documentation on your behalf.

How do I obtain the bank release letter?

For a car still under a loan, you need to go to your bank branch and request a Vehicle Release Letter. Documents to bring: your IC, the loan account statement, and a copy of the grant. We can provide an official sample letter to make the process easier.
